Flying

Flying into Miami is going to be your best bet. Miami International Airport is about an hour drive to the course and will have lots of flight options.

Driving

Everglades National Park is located on the southern tip of Florida, so directions are fairly uniform. If you’re looking for a course address to plug in to your maps on your phone, you can use 36000 SW 8th St, Miami, FL 33194 (the Shark Valley Visitors Center).

In general, if you’re driving from out of state, you’ll want to connect with I-75 and take it all the way down Florida, until you can connect with Route 29. Take Route 29 south until you connect with Highway 41, which you’ll take east to Shark Valley Visitors Center.

East Coast: If you’re coming from the East Coast, you can take I-95 all the way down through Miami to Highway 41. Take Highway 41 west to Shark Valley Visitors Center! There are likely less congested ways to get here from the East Coast, so be sure to plan ahead and use a maps app if you can.

Hotels & Camping

We have a few important addresses for you before we get into lodging recommendations:

Biscayne 5K Course & Everglades Half Marathon Expo – Homestead Bayfront Park (9698 SW 328th St, Homestead, FL 33033)

Don’t let the Miami address throw you! It’s not exactly near Miami. But you can use that address to find lodging nearby. We have some more info about where to look for lodging below.

camping

Camping

Due to the fact that this race takes place within Everglades National Park boundaries, your closest lodging options are going to be camping spots. Big Cypress is a great option. You can find campsites in Big Cypress here.

Other options

If camping isn’t your style, expect about an hour drive from the surrounding towns. Below are a few places to look for hotels:

Homestead is probably your best option for race weekend, especially if you’re doing the Biscayne 5K or double race. It’s near the 5K course and race expo, and it’s not too far from the half marathon course. This location is on the east side of the park, and will be convenient for anyone flying into Miami.

Everglades City is a great option if you’re running the half marathon. It’s near the race and also close to the Sandfly Loop for those wishing to join the Island Club. Heads up, it is a bit of a drive from the expo.

Miami is a great option, depending on where you find a hotel. Places on the western side of town will be quite close to the race (about a 40 minute drive).
